The Tapestry Of Life

Imagine a beautiful gigantic Tapestry, as big as the world, as big as the universe, or even bigger, and to access it you walk down corridors of lapis lazuli and sapphire. The Tapestry smells like sea breeze and perfume from the most beautiful garden.
What you see throughout the Tapestry are threads that sparkle and shine. But not only does the Tapestry glow, it swirls and ripples and actually breathes. The Tapestry, you see, is alive. And if you listen closely, you’ll hear that it whispers too. In fact, it appears as if God Himself is embroidering it. Which indeed He is.
Now you may question how I know this. What gives me the right to declare what God does or doesn’t do? Good question. And I ask what gives a clergyman, an imam, a rabbi, or a pujari priest the right to preach what they believe with such conviction when they don’t really know for certain?
You see, the ‘beliefs’ of Socrates, Voltaire, Confucius, Crazy Horse, a cognitive psychologist, a Voodoo priestess, an astrophysicist, Mark Twain, Jack Kerouac, John Steinbeck, Picasso, Sid & Nancy, David Bowie, Henri Charrière, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Trotsky, a crackhead on Boscombe Crescent, or you and me for that matter, have precisely matched probabilities when it comes to the reality of being accurate.
You do know that, don’t you?
There are no arbiters as to who is flawless in their ‘beliefs’.
We have no perception that our beliefs are all outdated. They’re fucking archaic! We have no evidence, no grounds to base our beliefs on, and lacking this we’ve raised a variety of completely diverse beliefs. When you believe something, whatever you believe in, you penalise yourself, simply because you can’t believe anything else that conflicts with that belief. Your beliefs become like a house of cards, and you’re scared stiff that just a slight breeze could flatten them. You’ve become subservient to that belief, and every time you do this you relinquish a little bit more of your independence.
This is something we’ve never absorbed as a race. We’ve explored space, we’ve blueprinted the depth of the ocean and the heart of protons, neutrons and electrons, yet we have a dread of gazing internally to ourselves because our perception is that this is where all the inconsistencies flow.
Before the Spanish discovered Paella; before Aztecs sacrificed captured warriors to feed the sun; before Blue Mink took that great big melting pot and kept it stirring for a hundred years or more; before Lowry painted kids who had nowt on their feet; before Maria was no longer an asset to the abbey; before Puerto Ricans carrying crates of beer piled out of their homes in Brooklyn and Queens and the High Bronx to scream for the other guy; before busty young women bared their breasts for strings of coloured beads during Mardi Gras; before Chief Seattle stated ‘I am a savage and I do not understand how the smoking iron horse can be more important than the buffalo’; before the multitude of Hindu religious movements spread throughout the Indian subcontinent; before Salvation Army brass bands marched down the high street; before the Quran condemned wine drinking; before the four Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles of the New Testament; before Voodoo arrived on West African slave plantations; before the Rosicrucians studied Alchemy; before the Lakota associated White Buffalo Calf Woman with the Virgin Mary; before Spanish, French, Portuguese, African, Italian and Native American cuisine was blended in Louisiana to form Cajun food; before the gift of survival was given to the Gypsy to match his really dark sense of humour; before Wise people in Ænglo-Saxon England were known by the name Wicca; before the youth culture of Great Britain woke up amidst a hangover of empty beer cans, stale cigarette smoke and rock ‘n’ roll; and before children tried to grasp the rainbow …..
Before all of this …….
There was nothing.
There was no faith, no belief, no acceptance, no conviction, no hope, no creed, no dogma, no doctrine, no gospel, no certainty, no truth …..
Just you, babe.
And the Tapestry.
Remember that. For religion divides us. Religion is often the root cause of the world’s chaos. But the Tapestry unites us.
So yeah, I have as much right as anyone to say what God does or doesn’t do, and I’ll tell you he embroiders this beautiful breathing Tapestry, a universe-sized Tapestry where individual threads travel together for a time, diverge, and later cross paths again. But while some of the strands glisten, others are toned down a bit; passionless would be the word to describe these strands.
However, despite these sluggish strands, the whole Tapestry is vivid and exciting. It’s enchanting to look at because each thread represents a person’s life. Everyone’s life is connected as a strand in the Tapestry, making a beautiful, eternal design.
The whole Tapestry is a symphony, and all of mankind, from dawn to dusk, is depicted as a thread in the Tapestry. This is the march of humanity, where all the strands of destiny, all the souls that incarnate, are connected. Each individual existence is interlaced, weaving through humanity, intersecting every journey, brushing against other lives until eventually the whole world at large is affected. The absolute oneness of humanity is represented by the Tapestry. All strands intertwine and influence each other in one form or another. And the colours are magical; ochre, doeskin, Huckleberry blue, Indian red, and paprika, while some are slippery blue anger, or just charcoal grey. All colours representing the spiritual energy of souls. Those with a charcoal grey energy have clearly chosen a different path.
If you followed your own thread, you might see the patterns of past lives and how the strands engage with people you know in this life. You know those occasions when you meet someone out of the blue and really click, but your paths never cross again? I once met Bonnie Tyler in a bar on the Algarve when I was living out there. We sat together all night, leaning on the bar, putting the world to rights, just the two of us; then never saw each other again.
Or you meet people on holiday you really gel with, planning on keeping in touch when you get back home, and sometimes you do, but often you don’t. However, if you viewed the Tapestry in detail, you may find your life-strands, for want of a better word, had crossed several times over a handful of different incarnations.
You know how you may have had a close friend, but lost touch for 20 or 30 years, then reconnected again and it was like you hadn’t skipped a beat? Well, you can read it in the Tapestry. You can see where your threads ran parallel to each other for a while but then branched off in different directions, crossing other threads, running parallel with them for a while, but then reuniting with your original friend. In other words, your thread has woven itself into the Tapestry of life, not just your own, but other souls too.
Also, those threads you crossed, sometimes very briefly, may have taught you something, healed you, tested you or challenged you. And then again, you may have coached them briefly, or facilitated something they needed. And if you traced both those strands, you may find they’d crossed before several lifetimes ago, or even run parallel for almost a whole life.
So, you can view the Tapestry and perhaps notice how the strands of yourself and your partner, husband or wife, have travelled together through various incarnations. God, with the help of your Higher Self, has been embroidering love letters for you, and you don’t even realise it. In fact, you yourself have spent countless hours mending the holes in the Tapestry of your soul, threading them closed with light and love for you’re always being guided on this purpose.
And when your thread grows stronger, that same light spills outward, reaching for other tattered souls, steadying their trembling edges, showing them how healing begins. You’ll never truly know the number of hearts that now shine with the stitches you placed into the fabric of their Tapestry because it’s your unique energy that greatly affects others. You don’t have to do anything; you just have to be. Some people can walk through a crowded shopping mall or into a pub, and their energy affects everyone they encounter. Every fibre of your being, every thought you have, every emotion, every action you choose to take, is vibrating at a certain frequency in the depths of your soul, and whether they’re aware of it or not, others are influenced by it.
Then again, perhaps there have been times when your mood has shifted without reason; you’ve suddenly felt uneasy, ruffled or even alarmed. Those emotional swings aren’t random. This is your spirit reading the room, picking up on energy that isn’t yours to carry, and by reading the Tapestry you can see where a certain strand has bumped into your strand briefly, but by following their life-thread you may come across an occasion in a previous life where you’ve locked horns in one form or another. They say that when you feel instantly attracted to the frequency of another’s person’s energy, it’s because you’ve known each other in a former life. Unfortunately, it’s the same if you take an instant dislike to someone. It’s because you’ve clashed in a previous existence. And that energy can’t be faked. Their aura introduces them before they speak.
Every time you engage with someone who drains you, you’re making a trade; your frequency for their chaos, and in the Tapestry, you can read where this happens. Some exchanges aren’t worth the cost.
So, let’s say those times when you feel like you don’t belong. Well, perhaps those around you are vibrating at a lower frequency, and the universe is guiding you away from them.
So, let’s assume you’re tracing your thread, and it’s a lovely, bold mix of pink and purple, a very enchanting fuchsia, but every now and again, through different lifetimes it changes to a rich, deep, blazing red. Perhaps these were times when you lost your way, when you strayed away from your life purpose. Who knows? But what’s certain is that these are times worth inspecting in greater detail to see what mistakes you made and what lessons are there for you to learn.
Or perhaps you kept your fuchsia colour but travelled with others for a short time who had that vivid crimson-red colour, and you’ve been able to protect your energy so that the colour of your strand remained the same, or perhaps their energy gave your fuchsia a tiny hint of purple, proof perhaps that you’re learning to hold your true self, your inner goodness. You never allowed it to destroy your internal peace.
Through this, and with the help of guides you’ll be able to see how you’ve evolved, and where you must grow. All life has a thread in the Tapestry, but only advanced souls can understand the concept of this cosmic embroidery.
The Tapestry is one of the most splendid works of art in all creation, it is indeed a masterpiece, but it has a purpose. It goes into higher, more complex dimensions, and eventually ends in Godhood. It all eventually leads to this hauntingly ‘tranzkulc̸hərəl’ ethereal light. So, the one picture I’ve chosen to illustrate it here hardly does it any credit at all, for the Tapestry has a range of multifarious designs; oriental designs, Native American designs, tribal sovereignty arrangements, indigenous community artwork, and wild contemporary patterns that follow wild contemporary lives.
Trace your thread throughout the Tapestry, and wherever you go, there you are, waiting for yourself. At the most unfathomable level you are the universe expressing itself in human form – at least for a little while!
However, if your thread carries a different frequency from someone else, they often can’t hear or understand what you are saying. They can only meet you as deeply as they’ve met themselves, which is why you may look at the Tapestry and see someone else’s life-strand running parallel to yours, but on a slightly different frequency. These people are close, but not quite on the same wavelength. Trying to explain yourself to friends or family members who vibrate at a different frequency to you can be draining.
Then again, the vibration of being who you are and doing what you love is magnetic. Your heart generates an electromagnetic field that reaches several feet around your body. People can feel you, and you attract other threads on the Tapestry with that energy, life-strands you’ve known in previous incarnations.
You see, the Tapestry connects us to an unlimited, enormous consciousness with no edges, no boundaries and no limits. And the only way your life – or your lives – can possibly be traced is by finding your pattern through this mystical, otherworldly Tapestry, where you can dance around your bones on the edge of extinction.
