My I.Q. Test

So I’ve just done one of these online IQ tests, and scored 127, which is exactly the same as Vladimir Putin, but nowhere near as high as Marilyn Monroe, who I know from a talk I gave to Sue’s Ladies Club had an IQ of 165, which is higher than the majority of the most brilliant minds in modern history, including Stephen Hawking (160), Einstein (160), Mozart (150-155), Socrates (140), Beethoven (135-140).

But nowhere near as high as Nikola Tesla (180), Leonardo da Vinci (180-220), or William Shakespeare (210). All of these are estimates, of course, based on their work and what we know of them.

Looking at the list of people with the highest IQ ever in the world, Marilyn, who was smarter than Einstein, would be placed 22nd in the world, meaning she was .... well, brighter than almost every single person who's ever lived. Is there truly a fine line between madness and genius?

Anyway, back to me; the average IQ score is set at 100, with most of the population scoring between 85 and 115. Scores above 130 are typically categorized as ‘gifted’, but that’s not me.

I’ve apparently got an IQ the same as Abraham Lincoln, meaning I have a ‘steady deliberate mind’ and I ‘weigh information from many angles before making a decision.’ It also seems like I’ve got the same IQ as Benjamin Franklin, indicating I ‘move easily between invention, writing and diplomacy’ (I'm, really not very diplomatic) and I have ‘clear, adaptable thinking.’ Plus, I also have the same IQ as Napoleon, which can be interpreted in that I ‘process information rapidly’ and can ‘make decisions under pressure with striking confidence.’  I have, so the test says, a ‘quick, strategic mind.’

My Visual Processing is supposedly exceptional, meaning I process visual information faster than most. In other words, I read the room quicker. And my Working Memory is well above the average.

The thing is, I’m not that bright (I came bottom of the class in school), and when you look at Lincoln, Franklin and Napoleon, there are clear discrepancies there. Several of those declared traits are at variance with the others.

Which begs the question; do these online IQ tests purposely give inflated scores just so they can get a quid off you to retain your certificate? I’ve a feeling they do. In fact, they must do, mustn't they? I think it’s all bollocks!
